Jamaican Solar and Energy Conservation Company Lights Up in Energy Transition

“Solar energy is the way of the future as it’s currently the cheapest form of energy generation compared to coal, nuclear and diesel power plants. With the world’s push to cleaner, greener energy generation for transportation and consumption, solar will become the dominant form of energy production. Imagine being able to charge your vehicle and drive for free from your home in Kingston to your vacation spot in Mobay and back. What could possibly beat free?”

For these, I give thanks

I’m grateful for the negative, badmine and grudgeful people out in the world. It is because of them that I know how NOT to live my life. It is because of them that I know how I should live and treat others. If these people didn’t exist, I would’ve been much more lost than I am. They’ve taught me lessons that bring my gratitude list together.  It is through my experience with these people that I recognise the importance of being grateful, practicing great discernment and loving on my friends and family. It is because of the negative, badmine and grudgeful that I burnt some bridges and repaired others. I’m pretty sure it was an experience with these people that prompted my ability to laugh and laugh heartily according to situations. I have to tell them thanks!

Letters to the World from a Jamaican Suburban Girl

I love the fact that you get to benefit, in general terms, from my misdeeds and misfortunes through my writing. Why do I say this? Well, you know those life lessons you get taught? Those lessons come from real life situations that have happened to me or in my life. It’s the fact that I can use my sense of humor in the silly things to teach simple but life changing lessons.

I went outside looking raggedy

We really ought not to judge a book by its cover. The cover may be torn, worn or stained because it hasn’t been through proper maintenance through no fault of its own. That doesn’t mean that the book’s contents will look as unkempt as its cover. Give people a chance if you’re the reader. Give yourself a chance if you’re the book and stop worrying about your readers will think about you. With or without maintenance, some people will like you and others will not.

A road trip I’d like to take

Despite our political and economic woes, Jamaica is an absolute treasure. She (Jamaica) is beautiful and her flora and fauna never ceases to amaze me. So, to see her in all her glory on road trips is a blessing.

Walking through rivers prepares you for rough life moments

uncomfortable situations will definitely come your way. Some of the times, these situations will come because of lack of preparation and others will happen just because that’s how life is. The best way to make it through and cross over is ultimately with a positive attitude.

Where you’re weak, others are strong | Where you’re strong, others are weak

We all have our fallen moments-weak moments- can’t do much for ourselves moments. However, in those moments, there will be at least one person who can help to carry you along in the best way they can. Importantly,  the roles will reverse at some point. That’s just the way life works. When that happens and the opportunity to pay it forward shows up, pay it forward.

Present your best self

This version of yourself could only be 10% on a given day if that’s all can do – that’s okay.

Give the best of that 10%. However, work towards improving on it to get to 100%.

Love Letter #81 | Put them Under Curfew

How you may or may not adhere to the rules of an 8:00 pm to 5:00 am (the following day) nation-wide curfew, is an indication of how you’d operate for the proverbial curfews in your life or in the lives of those whose lives you impact.

Work from Home | My neighbour cut his lawn

You have the power over how you complete your tasks for work. Are you seriously gonna allow a lawnmower and a weedwhacker to negatively impact your work?
I doubt it.
You know you have these tasks to complete and so you will find a way to get it done despite the noise around you.

Love Letter #80 | There was a Worm in my Apple

Learn to pivot. Find another fruit if the one you bit into has worms in it.
You can also stick it out, remove the worm and keep it moving.
You can also bite around the worm while consciously trying not to bite into it.
Or, you may enjoy the fruit despite the fact that a worm is there.
Are you flexible enough to pivot?

Love Letter #79 | She Assaulted my hair

Symbolic of life, hair bolts from our head[s]. Like the earth, it can be harvested, but it will rise again. We can change its colour and texture when the mood strikes us, but in time it will return to its original form, just as Nature will in time turn our precisely laid-out cities into a weed-way.

Work from Home Week 2 | The Internet Went Down

Sometimes we need to tether ourselves to others in order to be functional. Replace all the inanimate objects and replay the scenario with people who sometimes lose their way and need some help by way of other people. Other people help those in need by just facilitating a tethering process.

Love Letter #77 | The Confidently Insecure Black Girl

We all wear a mask to the party. Less often than naught do we actually remove the mask or even the entire outfit and show our bare, vulnerable self. So never assume that the person who presents to you reveals their everything at all times.

Love Letter #76 | The Garbage Truck Broke Down Outside my House

Garbage trucks smell beacuse of the fusion of waste that goes in them. They’re not cleaned as often as they should be and if they are cleaned frequently, it’s not a proper clean.
Never. And, I mean never allow yourself or the vessel you use to dispose of your figurative garbage to stay filthy.
