Your Past and Heritage Make You Unique – Let’s Chat

Dear World,

I believe that a person’s past and their heritage plays a strong role in who they are today. They don’t necessarily define them, but those attributes definitely say a lot about who they are today. Their heritage has undoubtedly shaped them, and those attributes inform the decisions people make to lead their lives.

In my view, that’s what makes a person unique. You can tell so much about a person’s story from their past and their ancestors. I always find it interesting just learning about some pivotal moment in a person’s past that they either enjoyed or even regretted. I also am keen on learning about where a person’s great grandfather or great grandmother on their father’s side lived and what they did, or what part of the world their family originates from. It’s almost like using a compass and map to get to a destination; the process will be filled with adventures and stories to tell. The discussions are usually endless and there is always something new to learn about the person and about life.

I really love that about people.

Though I’m introverted and long conversations can be difficult for me, my inquisitive nature and yearn to learn about someone’s story often leads me into an unintentional fact-finding mission about a person’s past, present, and future.

By the way, one of my favourite things to do is write feature stories about people. I chat with them about their past, and in some cases, their ancestry. If you’re ever interested in me writing about you, don’t be afraid to contact me.

Here’s the most recent feature story I’ve written: From Name to Brand: Lasawnha’s Creative Success. This feature story highlights Lasawnha Jordan, a Jamaican expat in Japan, who transformed her once-disliked name into a thriving brand specialising in handcrafted crochet bags. Her journey reflects creativity, resilience, and a deep commitment to quality, as she draws inspiration from her heritage and personal experiences to craft unique, elegant products.

So, tell me; what pivotal moment in your past changed your life and where are your ancestors from? Let’s chat!
